REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Grade 12 plus a 3-year National Diploma (NQF level 6)/Degree (NQF level 7) in Traffic Law Enforcement or relevant equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- 1 – 2 years of experience working in the field of Road Safety.
Licenses:
- All valid relevant driving licenses (A and EC).
Criminal Record:
- No criminal record or any pending cases against you.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Relevant legislative and framework knowledge.
- Knowledge and understanding of Road Safety Plan.
- Project management skills.
- Understanding of Batho Pele principles.
- Knowledge and understanding of departmental strategic priorities and programs.
- Self-management and time management abilities.
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal relations.
- Good written and oral communication.
- Report writing proficiency.
- Computer literacy.
DUTIES:
Road Safety Programs:
- Ensure the implementation of road safety programs as per National Department (NDoT) directive to schools, tertiary institutions, companies, and the general public.
Public Education and Awareness:
- Promote public education, understanding, and awareness of road safety.
- Encourage road user compliance to road rules.
- Maintain information material such as pamphlets and brochures for informal and formal road safety education.
Information Dissemination:
- Inform and educate the general public on identified road safety programs and projects.
- Implement road safety policies.
Project Management:
- Organize, plan, and implement projects as identified and prioritized by the communities, Road Safety Forums, and other organizations.
Stakeholder Liaison:
- Liaise with stakeholders and applicable institutions regarding Road Safety projects, education, and the development of communication/educational materials.
Research and Analysis:
- Identify possible interventions as hazlocs in the form of projects and awareness campaigns based on researched information.
- Conduct impact analysis of road safety projects on the general public.
Education and Communication:
- Encourage road user compliance to road rules.
- Deliver formal, informal, and non-formal education and communication through projects and programs targeting different categories of road users to change behavior, attitudes, and increase knowledge and skills.
Workshops and Evaluation:
- Conduct road safety workshops.
- Evaluate the performance of road safety officers.
Supervision and Database Management:
- Supervise road safety officers.
- Develop a database and area profile.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Compile weekly planners and reports on current projects.
- Collect evidence of the work done.
