The actress Phophi Mudau Ratlabala, who portrays Cindy, is a sangoma in real life.
Ratlabala had been absent from television for nearly a year before she finally explained why we had not seen her portray Cindy on Skeem Saam. She claimed that she did not appear on television because she had taken some time off to undergo a spiritual journey as a traditional healer.
This year, Phophi Mudau Ratlabala declared that she had graduated as a healer, and she expressed a willingness to discuss her path.
According to Daily Sun, the actress stated;
“The journey has been both difficult and beautiful. Giving of oneself, one’s time, and one’s resources paled in compared to the lesson in humility. When you embrace your calling to become a Healer, you completely relinquish yourself and permit the Spirits to operate in and through you.
Mlungisi Bafana Mathe, who portrays Emkay Biyela on the television series Skeem Saam, discussed his religion and spiritual journey as a sangoma.
