Teboho Mahlatsi, the renowned writer, producer, and director, known for co-creating the successful SABC series Yizo Yizo and his involvement in Bomb Productions, has passed away at the age of 49. His family released a statement announcing his untimely demise on July 3, 2023, and requested privacy to mourn and cope with the tragic loss. The cause of his death remains unknown.
Teboho Mahlatsi’s career spanned various creative projects. He worked as a screenwriter and gained recognition as a TV commercial director. He co-created the controversial and highly successful youth drama series Yizo Yizo, which aired for three seasons on SABC1. His debut short film, Portrait of a Young Man Drowning, received the Silver Lion prize at the Venice Film Festival in 1999. He was also involved in directing music videos and producing documentaries.

He served as a writer on Isibaya and was involved in the development and creation of the series Angel’s Song. Additionally, he produced and directed films like For Love and Broken Bones and Back of the Moon.
