Assistant Director: Information and Communication Technology – Ref No: CSP/13/2023

The Department of Civilian Secretariat for Police Service is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Assistant Director in Information and Communication Technology. This post, with a salary of R424,104 per annum, is based in Pretoria.

Requirements:

Applicants should possess a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of five (5) years of experience within the field of information technology is required.

Knowledge and/or qualification in a recognised framework for ICT service, Microsoft Windows, ICT Systems, and understanding of computer systems (hardware/software) and networks are necessary.

Experience in Microsoft environment server administration and support, as well as managing an information technology budget, is essential. Knowledge of Government prescripts, the Public Finance Management Act, and Public Service Transformation is expected.

Candidates should have computer literacy, strong communication skills (both verbal and written), project management and presentation skills, planning and organising abilities, team leadership capabilities, problem-solving and analytical skills, decision-making skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Duties:

  • The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing 1st line technical user support and setting up and configuring ICT end-user equipment.
  • They will communicate challenges affecting service delivery and provide timely solutions. Server administration technical support and voice solution (VoIP) and audio/visuals technical support will also be managed by the Assistant Director.
  • They will facilitate support in managing Service Level Agreements and ICT contracts, prioritise incidents based on categorisation and business impact, establish and manage incident management processes and procedures, proactively detect incidents through available tools, participate in the development and implementation of ICT governance and policies, identify and address gaps and risks in processes and technical environment, implement ICT security measures and cyber security strategy, monitor computer anti-virus and malware protection systems, oversee the ICT budget and procurement processes, and manage resources including human resources, financials, and ICT assets.
