It’s likely that the late Bafana Bafana goalie Senzo Meyiwa is looking down and chuckling to himself from beyond the grave. Meyiwa was in the process of constructing a house for his children when he passed away in the year 2014.
The soccer star was unable to survive long enough to see the face-brick house through its completion. The house is located in the southern part of Durban. He was murdered in the residence of his then-girlfriend, the Afro-pop musician Kelly Khumalo, in the neighborhood of Vosloorus, which is located east of Johannesburg.
It has been eight years since Meyiwa passed away, and the publication has been told that Mandisa, who is currently putting the finishing touches on the property, is getting ready to relocate to the premises.
Sifiso Meyiwa, Senzo’s brother, shared the following about his sibling: “Senzo cared for his family, especially his children. His intention was to bring up his children in a loving and secure setting. Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to accomplish this objective before his death.
“What was even more heartbreaking was the fact that he did not provide housing for his children; they did not have a house of their own.” Therefore, after he passed away, my grandfather was approached by one of the business magnates who promised to finish the mansion, but that promise was never fulfilled.
Sifiso went on to explain the situation, saying, “For the past eight years, that house served as a gathering place for vagrants.” We used to find a wide variety of filth, and despite our best efforts, we were unable to maintain and keep it clean due to the position of the building.
“At one point, we weren’t even sure what to do with it, but we knew it was Senzo’s pride and joy, so selling it was the last thing on our minds.
“It gives me great pleasure to share with you today the news that Senzo and Mandisa’s wife will be moving into that house. She is the one who completed the project and was responsible for purchasing the materials. It is unclear to me how much money she spent, but it was a significant amount.
“From what I gather, she is going to be moving in with Senzo’s children to the residence in question,” The only thing I can say is that we are all excited about this because she has fulfilled my brother’s wishes. Unfortunately, I cannot disclose the precise location because of safety concerns. I hope that Senzo is having a good time and that he is smiling upon her.
Sifiso further mentioned that there is more information to come.
“Now that our attention is focused on the [murder] case, we are confident that the truth will be revealed. It may take a few years, but in the end, those responsible will be brought to light, and everyone will be surprised.
Mandisa’s was contacted for comment but did not provide a response when asked.
After listening to Zandile Khumalo’s interview, Sifiso Meyiwa, Senzo Meyiwa’s brother, said, “Maybe we will finally know what happened.”
They just care about finding out the identity of the shooter.
Family members have watched the interviews and listened to the speculation, but nothing has brought them peace of mind.
Since Senzo Meyiwa, goalie for Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates, was killed in what was initially believed to be a botched heist, the situation has remained unclear.
Kelly’s sister, Zandile Khumalo, recently gave an interview to eNCA in which she discussed the time after Senzo’s death.
Drum is told that Senzo’s brother Sifiso Meyiwa has seen and heard the interview.
They would rather let the legal process play out without having to constantly defend themselves, he argues.
Sifiso explains to Drum how much love there is for Senzo, and how much they adore the football that God gave him. By using his God-given gift, he was honoring his family.
The family’s concerns center on the fact that they “knew” he would achieve great success professionally. Although we may never learn why or who took his life, he thinks it’s not wrong to hope that whoever did it will be punished for the anguish they’ve caused his family.
He claims that his loved ones all know the truth. Some folks are extremely rude and inconsiderate. They are extremely adept at being disrespectful and simply spewing comments out of their mouth for attention, and we are not those kinds of people; we will not give them satisfaction and be a part of what they are trying to do,” Sifiso says.
This, he argues, is not the first time they’ve been accused of caring exclusively about money.
It’s excellent that they’ve started talking and giving interviews; perhaps now we’ll have the answers we need as a family to rest easy. She’s telling the truth when she states that Senzo provided for the family. Nothing they say in public will faze me, and I won’t be surprised by whatever they say.
The family’s advocate, Sifiso, claims his mother, who was featured in the interview, is tired of hearing about the case.
To paraphrase what Sifiso says, “I merely asked my sister if my mother knows what is being said about her, and they say they do not know anything because they didn’t watch it.”
That’s it, don’t bother trying to contact my mom. Good that they’re communicating; eventually they’ll fill us in on what happened. As a family, we just want this to end already because we’re tired of it.
“Justice must be served and we must be allowed to move on. The fact that we are helping the police and then these people start talking like this is quite frustrating.
“As a good-faith family, we have decided to stop fighting and instead give it all to God. Nothing they say will change it,” he argues.
