In a recent Instagram post, Motsuki shared what it takes to bring her character to life. “I could write a journal about these scenes, the ones past and the ones that are still coming,” she wrote. “We all put our hearts into the storyline. It was intense, we felt lots of emotions. It was crazy fam. We wept, laughed, ran, sweated, encouraged each other. We worked. And I’m grateful that I was trusted with such a beautiful and impactful storyline. I’m beyond honoured.”

Motsuki also revealed that her character’s actions have had real-life consequences. “A few weeks ago I was busy shopping when a woman in her 60s hit me in the heel with a trolley,” she told a publication. “When I looked at her, she said, ‘I did it purposely because you are stealing other women’s husbands. I swear if you do that to my husband, I will deal with you.’ It was only then that it hit me that she thought I was Melita.”

The actress added that she has been reluctant to go out in public since the storyline started because it seems older women can’t differentiate between her and the character. “I’m just playing a role,” she said. “I’m not really Melita.”

Despite the backlash, Motsuki is grateful for the impact her character has had on viewers. “I’m glad that the storyline is sparking conversations about homewrecking and its consequences,” she said. “It’s important to raise awareness about these issues.”

On Twitter, fans of the show can’t get enough of Melita. There is even a song about her that has gone viral. The catchy tune, which features lyrics like “Melita, Melita, the gold-digging receptionist,” has been making the rounds on social media.

Skeem Saam has been a hit with viewers since it first premiered in 2011. The show, which is set in the township of Turfloop, tells the story of a group of high school students and their families. It has been praised for its realistic portrayal of township life and its strong female characters.

Motsuki’s portrayal of Melita has been a standout on the show. Her character’s scheming ways and love of money have made her a fan favorite, even as viewers condemn her actions. The actress has been praised for her nuanced performance and her ability to make audiences empathize with a character who is often seen as a villain.

As Skeem Saam continues to captivate audiences, Motsuki’s performance as Melita is sure to be a topic of discussion. The actress has proven that she has what it takes to bring complex characters to life and to make viewers think about the issues they raise.
