South Africans have been left inconsolable after reading a letter posted on Instagram by Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter, Zoleka Mandela.
Zoleka Mandela posted a photo of herself on Instagram along with a lengthy statement describing the “excruciating pain” she is experiencing throughout her body. After years of living as a cancer survivor, she said that she is considering engaging in another fight against the disease.
Her wails included:
My back has been bothering me for almost a month now, and I finally went to see my primary care physician because I could no longer put up with the severe pain in my left rib. A few days ago, I went to have an X-ray done on my chest and ribs, and the results showed that I had a pathological fracture as well as swelling caused by cancer.
My Medical Oncologist has arranged for me to get a CT scan as well as a bone scan so that they can identify whether or not the cancer has spread to any other places of my body.
According to what she has conveyed to me, cancer that has spread to the bones is neither curable nor eradicable. I have Bone Metastasis.
I’ve already had my CT scan, and I’m waiting for the results; I don’t even have the words to verbalize my thoughts and emotions, and I don’t even have the words to convey how afraid I am right now.
What do I impart onto my offspring? How do I break the news to them that there is a chance that I won’t be able to live my life as a survivor this time around?
How do I reassure them that everything will be all right when it clearly isn’t? I’m dying… I don’t want to die.
When she became pregnant, she had been dating the father of her child for a few months at that point. When the two abruptly stopped talking about each other on social media, it came as a surprise to their fans and following since the two had been so much in love with one another.
Even though their kid is a few months old at this point, the couple has not yet posted to each other as they did before the pregnancy. Zoleka shared earlier today that there is a chance that she might be diagnosed with cancer once again, and this time there is a chance that she would not survive the disease. She has twice overcome cancer, but now she believes that she is nearing the end of her life and she does not want to pass away.
Her unborn child’s father, Andile Cana, shared a video on social media showing the two of them hanging out together when she was pregnant. It’s possible that you’re doing this to express your support for what she’s going through right now.
